Specialist Care

One of only three specialist dementia care units in Queensland, and the only one in North Queensland.
Our secure unit has been established to enhance services and help people with dementia live a more fulfilling life.

Our high resident-to-staff ratio ensures that we work closely with individuals who have the highest care needs.

This unit offers advanced care for residents with behavioral or psychological symptoms that may not be suited to a traditional dementia care setting. Our focus is on providing support to stabilise or reduce these symptoms, with the goal of transitioning residents to a less intensive environment within 12 months. While we aim for complete success, we offer the option for residents to return to the unit if needed, to continue their care and support

Our carefully selected colour pallet provides stability and familiarity, and reinforces our safe and protected environment, which has been proven to reduce the effects of dementia. All staff working in Azalea have been specifically recruited and receive extra training to provide the highest level of quality care and safety. Residents also continue to access medical specialists to provide clinical oversight and care whilst within the unit.

Working with a Specialist Dementia Coordinator, our residents can recieve the highest care within an environment that has been especially designed for their needs. We work holistically with government and other referral agencies to provide the best possible outcome for every resident. It’s what we do.
